Drowning pleasures in their painDrawing comfort from the rainI ran along the road at bestAnd disregarded all the rest

Stopping for no breath of airReaching for the distant glareAnd pulling back an empty handStill stinging from the reprimand

The road in laughter called my nameAnd trees beside me hung in shameIn circles had I run awayDirection all in disarray

And finally I heard the songThat I’d been missing all alongCaught up in every day’s affairDistracted by my own despair

And thus begins a life renewedReleasing all that’s been subduedTo burst afar and ride the windAnd feel my heart and soul ascend
